King City announces open filing period for City Council seats

Four positions are up for re-election in November

The city of King City is now accepting applications for City Council positions for the Nov. 2 election.

The filing period to apply for candidacy for four city councilor positions will remain open until the City Hall close of business on Tuesday, Aug. 24, at 5 p.m.

Candidate application packets are available at the City Hall, 15300 S.W. 116th Ave.

The openings are for the January 2011 to January 2015 term of office.

Councilors whose terms will be expiring at the end of 2010 are and Councilors Ron Shay, Jim Gates and Ken Gibson and recently appointed interim Councilor Sam Locklin.

Ron Shay is currently mayor, and the mayor for the 2011-2013 council term will be appointed by the council at the first meeting in January 2011.
